A man who contaminated candy with tranquilliser and provided them to minors at a summer camp in Leicestershire has admitted sexual offences against two boys who were between nine and ten.

The defendant was detained after eight children and a grown-up became sick at the facility in July.

The elderly man, from that region, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the judicial center on the end of the week.

Nevertheless, he disputed one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was concerning a nine-year-old child.

The accused was kept in jail prior to a further hearing on 28 November.

'Candy game'

The legal representative, presenting evidence, described the criminal behavior to the court.

She stated his those affected were disadvantaged youngsters who were participating in a summer camp which he managed.

The man played a "candy game" with the youngsters, Mrs Prior stated, in which he would enter the boys' rooms when they were settling down and ask them to eat sweets "rapidly".

She stated to the judge the man had engaged in this activity with the young males "repeatedly", and children had earlier experienced illness the next day.

She stated the man had been capable of justifying this repeatedly as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had worries in July 2025.

The legal representative added: "Recently" his stepchild had suspicions about what was going on, justifiably.

"They decided to investigate in the defendant's belongings."

The prosecutor stated materials including baby oil, ointment and injection devices were found, and his stepchild contacted the authorities about his suspicions.

She stated the defendant went on to conduct the "candy game" with six boys that evening - Saturday 26 July - and they were all sick the next day.

"Authorities" had not arrived by that time," she stated further.

The oversight body, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was reviewing the police response of the incident.

The prosecutor said the youngsters were having difficulty walking due to being ill, so the stepson contacted the authorities again.

She stated the man then conducted the "treat game" in a area of five minors.
