The second-hand marketplace Users Express Anger Over Sizing Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has updated its size classifications for female and kids' apparel without notifying every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a different size category than originally posted because of the remapping.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
It has advised users to examine their items and update the measurements by hand if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Modifications
Previously, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Accounts
A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Another user, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she explained.
Manual Updates
A different user, from Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: last year, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
